Jay's story

Jay is the Co-Founder of the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation and sits on the boards of various other organizations in the Philippines.

Jay's journey from corporate man to social entrepreneur started in 2010 when he found out there were children who had to swim to school. Watch the Youtube video for the details.

Speaker

Jay gives over fifty speeches per year. He is a sought-after speaker on the use of technology and social media in running organizations and serving customers.

His clients included De La Salle Lipa, De La Salle - College of St. Benilde, Philippine Airlines, Facebook, and a host of other nonprofit and educational institutions.

His topics include Web 3 and Metaverse, social media, innovation, youth leadership, and entrepreneurship.

Jay helps people, companies, non-profits and brands breathe life into their stories.

Fire Starter

Jay loves to help people start things. In 2010, he was the first Director for New Media of the newly-formed Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) under the Office of the President of the Philippines responsible for building and managing the President’s official online presence. It was also in the same year that he co-founded Kabayanihan Foundation, and the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation.

He has also worked with De La Salle Lipa in setting up the incubation program for NEXUS Innovation Labs, and De La Salle – College of St. Benilde in starting up the Hub of Innovation For Inclusion (HIFI), an innovation space for social good.

Storyteller

Jay popularized using the job title “Chief Storyteller” in the Philippines. He took on this role when he co-founded the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation in 2010. The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation is the organization that provides yellow (school) boats to children who swim to school in the Philippines. In 2016, he also co-founded Wheel To Live, the organization that connects PWDs in Maguindanao, Philippines to donors, and also serves as its Chief Storyteller.

Jay has been writing since college. His writing focuses on Web 3.0 and the Metaverse, social media, social innovation, social development, and sometimes he also dabbles in politics and governance.
